Comment from Lisa: I must tell you about my toe. I've had this strange, calloused toe knuckle for about ten years. It is just a strip of tough, hard skin on top of my toe which would never go away - I tried exfoliating, pumicing, moisturizing, and it was as stubborn as could be.
