My name is Kara Friesen and I grew up in Ohio with my parents and three brothers. Those in my family always have tended to lean toward the creative, mostly musically but also with our individual projects of one sort or another. I've always been a little bit scattered with the completion of an artistic work, but last year I started making jewelry and found that this area held my attention. I find myself thinking of different designs at the most inappropriate times and have a constant desire to work on them.
As my life has unfolded in the last decade, I now live in Harrisonburg, VA with a wonderful, loving husband, a nursing degree, and an illness that leaves me unable to work outside the home; fibromyalgia. This disease has taken a lot from me financially, emotionally, spiritually and most of all physically. However, feeling the need to fill some of my healthy hours with productivity, I am now turning my efforts toward the arts. I have many ideas and dreams for where this could go, but for now I will just say this: I have hope. Hope to see the beauty around me more than the pain... and the hope that, if even in the simplest of ways I am able to help others feel beautiful and special... just as you most assuredly are."
